Are you the type of person that wakes up every morning and feels great! Do you wake up ready to face the day, love your body, love yourself and your life? If so then great!! This post isn’t for you.
If you sometimes feel some shame or dislike for your body, your accomplishments, or any aspect of you and your life… You are not alone. Please read on…
In this age of social media, it can feel like you are the only one whose life/body is not perfect. So take a deep breath…You are not alone…
How can you shift your self-perception/worth/confidence? One way is to increase your self-love through extreme self-care. I can hear you groaning right now because you are so tired of hearing about self-care, but before you stop reading, I promise you will see this from a different perspective.
I want to dispel a myth about self-care: It isn’t a massage, manicure/pedicures, or a spa day. This can be part of your self-love routine if it resonates, but what I am talking about as vital to increasing your self-worth is straightforward daily acts to show your mind/body/soul is loved and accepted. Our usual act of looking externally for approval almost always results in disappointment. If you are ready to commit to one simple act today, then you are on your way to improved confidence and happiness.
Here are some simple steps to improve your self-care:
- Take a few breaths and think about one area of your body or life that you are disappointed or even shameful about. Write it down.
- Now take a moment… And give gratitude for this challenge or the simple fact that you have this in your life.
- Check in to see one thing you can do or say each day to shift your perception. For instance: if you chose your thighs, you can look at your thighs and be grateful you can walk/run and do all the things you do every day. If you chose your career, be thankful for all that you have done so far and for the potential you have in the future.
- Pick a time of day and state this to yourself or out loud every day for at least 30 days.
This may sound simple, but it is powerful.
I would love to hear the results. Did it improve how you feel? What insights did you gain?
